Bob Seger

I am a fan of good ol' fashioned rock and roll.  And to that measure Bob Seger is one of the best.  His songs are legendary and his music will live on forever.  Who doesn't know "Old Time Rock and Roll" or "Against The Wind"? These are classics that are among some of the best written songs in history.

But it wasn't always that way.

I've identified two main classifications to any creative venture.  Either you are a "natural" creative in that you are born with it -- or you are a "grit" creative in that you had to work for it.

Mr. Seger is part of the "grit" creative class.  He had to work twice and hard and twice as long to achieve success.   He can recall failure after failure before he got it right.  But he kept to it and eventually got it right.

There is a lot we can learn from that.

I can relate to Mr. Seger as I am from the same class of creative.  Two steps forward, one step back.  But the beauty is no matter what road you have taken, at the end of the day just sticking to it will get you over the hurdle.

So next time you encounter a challenge and look around to see someone else effortlessly gliding through -- think of Mr. Seger.  Then roll up your sleeves for a little "Old Time Rock and Roll" to get it done.
